Kaspersky Malaysia Joins Free Tree Society for Conservation Effort at Taman Tugu

Kaspersky Malaysia joined Free Tree Society in a conservation day at Taman Tugu, where volunteers engaged in climate education, biodiversity protection, and tree-planting efforts. The initiative highlights corporate commitment to sustainability and Malaysia’s rainforest conservation.

MALAYSIA, 9 SEPTEMBER 2025 – Kaspersky Malaysia, led by Adrian Hia, Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky, partnered with Free Tree Society (FTS) in a conservation initiative at Taman Tugu, Kuala Lumpur. The activity brought together 22 volunteers for a hands-on day of ecosystem conservation, climate education, and biodiversity protection.

The program began with a guided jungle walk exploring the links between ecosystem conservation and climate change, followed by workshops on water scarcity, rainwater harvesting, composting, and water reduction. Volunteers also gained practical skills through nursery operations such as soil mixing, propagation, transplanting, and plant care.

Each participant nurtured a Jering tree seedling (Archidendron Pauciflorum), a native rainforest species, contributing to efforts in expanding Taman Tugu’s urban forest. The initiative underscored the importance of biodiversity protection while supporting future reforestation.

“Spending the day at Taman Tugu, a site rooted in Malaysia’s pre-independence history, was a timely reminder of the resilience found in both community and nature. For a company whose identity is also green, it was indeed a meaningful way to learn, connect and contribute to sustainability,” said Adrian Hia.

The 66-acre Taman Tugu site is home to more than 1,000 indigenous trees, some over a century old. Over the years, conservation efforts have planted more than 5,000 trees, including around 1,000 that are listed as Endangered or Critically Endangered.
