LigoWave and PT INTI have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to localize the production of advanced telecommunication equipment in Indonesia, aiming to enhance the nation’s telecommunication infrastructure and support its digital transformation. The partnership will focus on technology transfer, market expansion, and sustainable development, starting with the support of Indonesia’s National Digital Transformation Strategy and the Satria-1 satellite project.
14 June 2024 – In a pivotal move to enhance Indonesia’s telecommunication infrastructure, LigoWave, represented by Mr. Turker Hidirlar, CEO of iConn Networks, DBA LigoWave, and Perusahaan Perseroan (Persero) Industri Telekomunikasi Indonesia (PT INTI), represented by Mr. Tantang Yudha Santoso, Financial, Human Capital, Legal & Risk Management Director, have formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The signing ceremony was held at Cape EMS Berhad in Senai, Johor, Malaysia, and witnessed by distinguished guests including Yang Berhormat Liow Cai Tung, Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly, and Mdm. Rossy Verona, Deputy Chief of Mission from the Embassy of Indonesia in Malaysia.
The MoU outlines a strategic collaboration to localize the production of advanced telecommunication equipment, such as wireless devices, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, smart utility meters, and 5G technology in Indonesia. This initiative aims to leverage the expertise of both LigoWave and PT INTI to meet the increasing demand for reliable and secure connectivity solutions in the region.
Key Objectives of the MoU Include:
- Localized Production:
- Establishing manufacturing capabilities within Indonesia to produce LigoWave’s telecommunication equipment.
- Market Expansion:
- Enhancing market presence for access points and other telecommunication products in Indonesia.
- Technology Transfer:
- Facilitating the transfer of technology and providing training to support the development and deployment of innovative telecommunication solutions.
- Sustainable Development:
- Meeting Indonesia’s regulatory requirements for local content and contributing to the nation’s technological advancement and economic growth.
During the ceremony, Mr. Hidirlar emphasized the importance of this partnership in addressing the connectivity needs of Indonesia, stating, “This MoU represents a significant milestone in our efforts to introduce cutting-edge telecommunication solutions to Indonesia. By localizing production and partnering with PT INTI, we are committed to supporting the nation’s technological infrastructure and fostering innovation.”
Mr. Santoso echoed this sentiment, highlighting PT INTI’s excitement about the collaboration with LigoWave. He noted, “This partnership will not only enhance our production capabilities but also ensure that we stay at the forefront of telecommunication advancements. Together, we aim to deliver high-quality, locally manufactured products that meet the needs of our customers and support Indonesia’s digital transformation.”
The event also saw the participation of Datuk HJ Mohd Rabin Bin Basir, Chairman of Cape EMS Berhad, LigoWave’s exclusive manufacturing partner. Cape EMS Berhad will play a crucial role in transferring manufacturing knowhow and ensuring the quality of the devices.
Supporting Indonesia’s National Digital Transformation Strategy:
LigoWave and PT INTI’s collaboration will support Indonesia’s National Digital Transformation Strategy, aiming to enhance telecommunication and information access, particularly in underserved and remote areas. This partnership aligns with various initiatives to bolster digital infrastructure, ensuring broader access to information and communication technology for all citizens.
Potential Market Expansion with the Satria-1 Satellite:
- Capacity: The Satria-1 satellite offers a capacity of 150 Gbps for 150,000 service points, each requiring two access points.
- 2023 Installations: To date, 14,360 service points have been installed.
- 2024 Plan: Plans are underway to install the remaining 30,000 service points.
- Objective: iConn Networks, DBA LigoWave, along with PT INTI, will provide the necessary connectivity hardware for these service points, positioning LigoWave’s devices as key solutions for all service points.
The partnership is set to begin immediately, with both LigoWave and PT INTI committed to achieving the outlined objectives and contributing significantly to the growth of Indonesia’s telecommunication sector.
