IMMERSE KL x CelcomDigi 2025 secured over RM1 million in technology opportunities and introduced Malaysia’s first immersive technology association, i3S. The event gathered 555 attendees and solidified the nation’s position as a regional hub for XR, AR, VR, and immersive innovation.

MALAYSIA, 14 AUGUST 2025 – IMMERSE KL x CelcomDigi 2025, a flagship programme by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), successfully generated more than RM1 million in technology opportunities for participating companies, further cementing Malaysia’s role as a regional leader in immersive technologies.

The two-day event, held in collaboration with CelcomDigi, attracted 555 attendees from Malaysia and abroad. Featuring 32 exhibitors and 25 speakers, the showcase highlighted cutting-edge developments in extended reality (XR), virtual production, immersive storytelling, and creative content. Industry leaders such as CelcomDigi, FreeDome, Experiential Design Team (EDT), Revenant Reverie, and FaBu Designs provided interactive demonstrations, complemented by contributions from students and independent creators.

A major milestone of the event was the launch of the International Interactive & Immersive Society (i3S), Malaysia’s first dedicated immersive technology association. i3S will drive the growth of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), XR, simulators, and AV hardware by fostering collaboration, developing skilled talent, supporting commercialisation, and influencing policy development.

Adding to the momentum, Monolith Technologies and Virtualtech Frontier (VTF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-develop XR experiences aligned with Malaysia’s digital economy agenda. A Strategic Roundtable with Meta Reality Labs also convened government agencies, academia, and industry representatives — including MTVET, TalentCorp, and local universities — to discuss how immersive technologies can advance education, workforce readiness, and skills development.

The Matchworks Business Matching Programme saw 17 Malaysian solution providers connect with 43 SMEs and corporates to explore new business opportunities in marketing, operations, and customer experience.

“IMMERSE KL x CelcomDigi 2025 reaffirms Malaysia’s position as a rising powerhouse in immersive technologies within the region,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC. “By launching the nation’s first immersive technology association and cultivating strategic partnerships, we are demonstrating how innovation, talent development, and global collaboration can drive our digital economy forward.”

The event was strongly supported by its partners and sponsors, with CelcomDigi as the official partner. Diamond Sponsors included Freedome (MAPIM), Revenant Reverie, Warnakala Studios, and XR Associates; Gold Sponsors were UnBound Malaysia, CCACC (CloudTech Group), FaBu Design, and Experiential Design Team; Silver Sponsors included Virtual X and Pixljaya Digital Media & Entertainment; and Bronze Sponsors were Monolith Technologies, Victory Forest Commercial, and SME Corp (Matchworks Programme Host).

IMMERSE KL will expand to Penang in 2026 before returning to Kuala Lumpur, continuing its mission to showcase immersive innovation and foster Malaysia’s creative technology sector.
