Motorola Mobility Home was acquired by Internet giant Google at US$12.5 billion (RM38.2 billion) early this year. Recently, Google announced that they will sell this business unit to ARRIS, a global communications technology company specializing in the design, engineering and supply of broadband services for residential and business customers around the world.
This acquisition will bring US$2.05 billion (RM6.27 billion) cash and approximately US$300 million (RM917.5 million) in newly issued ARRIS shares to the Internet giant.
With the acquisition over Motorola Home, ARRIS’s ability to provide next-generation consumer video products and services and supporting a more comprehensive product offering will be enhanced while the ability to deliver a comprehensive set of industry-leading new products for broadband to a wide spectrum of customers also will be accelerated. The transaction also increases ARRIS’ patent portfolio and provides a license to a wide array of Motorola Mobility patents.
