Sept 25, 2013 (Wed): The global payment service provider GlobalCollect has opened new offices in Japan and Australia and the opening of offices marked the expansion of its operations in the Asia-Pacific region. Currently, GlobalCollect has its Asia Pacific regional headquarters office in Singapore since 2008.
According to GlobaCollect, the e-commerce market in Japan is expected to grow from US$128 billion (RM412.5 billion) in 2012 to US$182 billion (RM586.5 billion) by 2016. In 2012, e-commerce constituted 6.3 per cent of total retail sales in Australia, up from 5.5 per cent in 2011 while m-commerce market in Australia has grown from US$155 million (RM499.5 million) in 2010 to US$5.6 billion (RM18 billion) in 2012.
