MasterCard Wordwide and Co-operative Bank Ltd (CB Bank) announced that they have processed the first transaction using MasterCard card at the first ATM installed by CB Bank in Yangon, Myanmar. With the partnership between CB Bank and MasterCard Worldwide, foreign tourist and business travellers with an international MasterCard, Maestro or Cirrus card will now be able to withdraw money in kyat or the local currency at CB Bank’s 36 ATMs around Myanmar including at Yangon International Airport.
CB Bank’s Executive Chairman and CEO, Kyaw Lynn said MasterCard will be able to be accepted at Point-of-Sales (POS) terminals within four months and they also expect Myanmar citizens who travelling overseas able to use MasterCard within a year from now.
