Epson Southeast Asia Achieves Major Sustainability Milestones in FY2024, Driving Circular Economy and Community Impact

Epson Southeast Asia’s FY2024 Sustainability Report reveals strong progress toward carbon negativity, circular economy goals, and social responsibility, including significant emission reductions and education initiatives across the region. The achievements reflect Epson’s alignment with its global Environmental Vision 2050 to create a sustainable and resilient future.

MALAYSIA, 7 October 2025 – Epson, a global leader in technology and innovation, has released its FY2024 Southeast Asia (SEA) Sustainability Report, highlighting major strides in advancing circular economy practices, strengthening emissions transparency, and amplifying community impact programs across the region. These initiatives reinforce Epson’s commitment to its Environmental Vision 2050, which aims for carbon negativity and the elimination of dependence on underground resources.

The report details measurable progress made since Epson began collecting regional emissions data in FY2023. Under its four key material areas—Achieve Sustainability in a Circular Economy, Advance the Frontiers of Industry, Improve Quality of Life, and Fulfil Social Responsibility—Epson SEA achieved an 11% reduction in electricity use, cutting Scope 2 emissions to 814 tonnes of CO₂e, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of approximately 4,500 refrigerators.

Driving Circular Economy Progress
Epson SEA made significant headway in circular economy initiatives by reducing waste and logistics-related emissions. Through the expansion of its drop-shipping operations, the company successfully avoided 113 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, marking a 21% improvement from FY2023.

In FY2024, Epson also enhanced Scope 3 emissions tracking to improve transparency and guide more informed sustainability decisions. Across Southeast Asia, Epson’s localized initiatives led to the recycling of over 1,600 kg of ink consumables and the conversion of more than 500 kg of food waste into fertilizer, equivalent to about 1,700 meals.

Further, one Epson SEA office earned BCA Green Mark Gold certification, with five additional offices receiving certifications thereafter, underscoring the company’s dedication to energy-efficient and sustainable building practices.

Advancing Industry Frontiers through Governance and Digitalisation
Epson SEA continued embedding sustainability within its operations through enhanced governance, digitalization, and employee well-being programs. The region achieved 100% employee participation in compliance training and maintained a record of zero workplace incidents in FY2024. These milestones, coupled with ongoing professional development and well-being initiatives, demonstrate Epson’s commitment to operational excellence and safety.

Enhancing Quality of Life through Education and Innovation
Epson’s commitment to education remained strong through the “Epson Goes to School” initiative, which supports teachers and students with printer donations and improved access to learning materials. Additionally, Epson contributed to robotics and STEM education programs, empowering young innovators and nurturing future talent in the digital economy.

Fulfilling Social Responsibility through Ecosystem Restoration
Reflecting its dedication to environmental stewardship, Epson SEA worked with NGOs and community partners to recover over 1,400 kg of waste through cleanup efforts across six markets. In Indonesia, Epson joined WWF’s Trees for Life project, planting 200,000 trees over 300 hectares, directly benefiting 300 families and supporting long-term ecosystem restoration.

“At Epson, sustainability is about empowering our employees and communities to drive positive change and create a better future,” said Tan May Lin, Sustainability Task Force Leader, Epson Southeast Asia. “By strengthening data transparency and accountability, we ensure that our regional actions align with Epson’s global sustainability vision.”

Alvin Tan, Lead for Country Initiatives at Epson SEA, added, “Sustainability progress must be lived out across our markets. From reducing emissions to expanding education access, our approach ensures real, tangible benefits for people and the planet.”
