Thailand’s retail giant Central Retail Corporation (CRC) has acquired OfficeMate Plc (OfficeMate), a supplier of office products such as office stationery, books, business machines, furniture, ink and toners and computer supplies through printed and online catalogues in Thailand. This successful acquisition has made CRC to become a top player in Asia’s online shopping segment.
Under the acquisition, CRC will become the major shareholder of OfficeMate with 75 per cent stake and it will transfer two of its business units, Office Club (Thai), the operator of Office Depot office supply stores, and B2S, the stationery and bookstore chain to OfficeMate, according to Tos Chirathivat, the Chief Executive of CRC.
Tos said that online sales of Thailand are estimated at 80 billion baht (RM7.95 billion) this year.
