US-based mobile payment company Square has launched ‘Square gift card’ which allows everyone to send gift cards to their friends and family instantly from their phone using Square Wallet. Square Wallet automatically save gift cards when shared by someone and the recipient can redeem it easily with over 200,000 businesses in US, including Starbucks.
According to Doug Dalton, the owner of Cask Store, an artisanal beverage purveyor in San Francisco, he found a lot of customers have a hard time to choose gifts for their love one. He added that gift cards can make people happier because they can just walk in the shop and choose their perfect bottle of wine. Compared with traditional gift card programs, Square gift card enable businesses to accept it without additional cost and tools required.
