Indonesia’s Bank Mandiri formed a partnership with Think Big Digital Sdn. Bhd. to sell AirAsia, the leading low-cost carrier tickets online using credit card issued by Bank Mandiri.
Bank Mandiri’s senior vice president for consumer cards, Handayani said the bank forecasted this collaboration can triple the spending amount on AirAsia tickets using Bank Mandiri’s cards, from IDR9 billion (USD939,500) per month to IDR27 billion (USD2.8 million). He believed the sales forecast can be achieved because Air Asia will add more fleets and flights to Indonesia and also the rising middle-income class who will ask for budget air transportation.
To date, Bank Mandiri has issued more than 2.7 million credit cards and total transaction in the January-August period of this year reached around IDR11 trillion, increased 22 percent from the same period in year 2011, according to Bank Mandiri.
Think Big Digital Sdn Bhd is a Malaysia-based operator of BIG loyalty programme and is a joint venture between AirAsia and Tune Money. BIG loyalty programme allows members to earn points when travelling and shopping, and redeem the points for exciting rewards, including flight seats.
