23 February 2024 – BlackBerry Limited and the SANS Institute (SANS) have unveiled a strategic partnership in Malaysia, offering advanced cybersecurity training courses through the forthcoming BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) in Kuala Lumpur. Aimed at bolstering Malaysia’s cybersecurity capacity, the collaboration will focus on critical areas such as forensics and incident response, with the inaugural training session, “SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, and Incident Handling,” open for registration from March 11 to 16.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in BlackBerry’s cybersecurity agreement with the Government of Malaysia, as announced at the APEC Summit in San Francisco in November 2023. In conjunction with Malaysia’s deployment of BlackBerry’s trusted cybersecurity solutions, the opening of the CCoE aims to educate, train, and upskill cyber professionals, further enhancing the cybersecurity landscape in the region.
Matthias Chia, Director of Strategy & Business Development, Asia Pacific, SANS Institute, emphasized the importance of continuous learning and innovation in building cyber-resilience, expressing pride in partnering with BlackBerry to offer globally accredited training programs in Malaysia.
In addition to SANS programs, BlackBerry will provide its own curriculum at the CCoE and collaborate with Malaysian universities and institutions to offer diverse courses and certifications, contributing to the development of skilled cybersecurity professionals in Malaysia and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
John Dimitropoulos, Senior Vice President of Strategy, Business Development and Operations at BlackBerry Cybersecurity, highlighted the increasing global demand for cybersecurity expertise and the joint commitment to establishing a competitive skills and learning ecosystem in Malaysia and the Indo-Pacific region.
