Beware Olympics related scam

PETALING JAYA: The largest maker of security software for computers, Symantec Corp warns the internet users should check the legitimacy of any message before downloading attachments and avoid clicking on links especially related to Olympics to prevent the misuse of personal and sensitive information such as account numbers.

The latest cyber criminals were taking advantage of avid sports fans’ ignorance and curiosity to tempt them into clicking on the poisoned links that contain malicious software, phishing attempts or malicious content. To make the victims believing its legitimacy, the scam message is attached with an official letter complete with Olympics logo.
