Tue, Jun 18, 2013: The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC)’s Targeting Scams Report reveals that Australians lost AU$93 million (RM279 million) to scams last year, 9 per cent increased compared with 2011, abc.net.au reported. However, only 35 per cent of scams reported were from online shopping.
The report also says ‘advance fee fraud’ was the most common form of scam in Australia and average amount lost is between AU$100 (RM300.26) and AU$500 (RM1,501.29).
