INDONESIA: According to an e-commerce survey conducted by DailySocial and VeriTrans, the report shows the apparel (or fashion) is the most popular item sold online in Indonesia which contributes 37 per cent, followed by travel services (20 per cent), online entertainment (20 per cent), electronic goods (13 per cent) and books (8 per cent).
Majority of the respondents prefer to buy online at Facebook and Kaskus because they feel more confidence on these two sites. The respondents also will spend via local sites such TokoBagus, Bhinneka, BliBli, Disdus, Tokopedia and Dealkeren as well as International site like Amazon, eBay and Multiply. 40 per cent of the respondents spend IDR 100,000 – 500,000 per transaction and only minority willing to spend IDR 2,000,000 – 5,000,000 in a single receipt.
E-Commerce spending in Indonesia will reach USD 10 billion in 2015 due to the growth of Internet users (from 55 million to 149 million) and the middle class people (from 110 million to 150 million), Kompas reports.
583 online shoppers participated in the survey. 60 per cent of the respondents are female and 53 per cent are from age group of 15-23.
