AMEX and Verifone Team Up to Make Reward Points Redemption for Taxi Ride

Oct 23, 2013 (Wed): American Express (AMEX) has inked a strategic partnership with VeriFone Systems, Inc. in enabling eligible card members to use membership rewards points from American Express for their fare in New York City (NYC) taxi cabs – in real-time, on the Taxi TV screen at the end of the ride.

In NYC, the passengers can pay by credit card at the end of the ride with cabs equipped with Verifone’s in-taxi devices. When AMEX cardholders swipe an eligible card enrolled in AMEX Membership Rewards program and if there are enough points in their account, they will receive an on-screen prompt giving them the option to use points for their ride fare, including tip and tolls.
