Alibaba Cloud has introduced its latest AI models, solutions, and upgraded infrastructure at its inaugural AI Tech Day in Malaysia, reinforcing its role in driving AI innovation in the region. MALAYSIA, 28 February 2025 – Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology arm of Alibaba Group, has unveiled a suite of AI advancements at its first-ever AI Tech Day in Malaysia. The event showcased next-generation AI models, enhanced cloud infrastructure, and AI-driven business solutions designed to empower enterprises and developers in Malaysia. The company also announced key collaborations with leading Malaysian businesses to bolster AI adoption across various sectors.
The event was officiated by YB Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital, who emphasized the importance of AI in Malaysia’s digital transformation. “Malaysia is committed to leveraging AI for economic growth. Next-Gen AI Models and Infrastructure
Alibaba Cloud introduced its 9th Generation Enterprise Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances, set to launch in Malaysia by mid-2025. The latest ECS instances offer a 20% boost in computing efficiency and up to 50% performance improvement for high-performance computing applications.
In addition, the company launched the Qwen2.5 series, its latest large language models (LLMs) with parameter sizes ranging from 7 billion to 72 billion. These models, accessible via API on Alibaba Cloud’s Model Studio, aim to accelerate AI adoption in industries like finance, healthcare, retail, and education. The company also introduced Qwen2.5-VL, a multimodal AI model supporting advanced visual-language capabilities, available on platforms such as Hugging Face and Model Scope.
Developers will also benefit from Alibaba Cloud’s AI-powered coding assistant, set for release in April 2025. This tool offers features such as code completion, debugging support, and automated unit test generation to enhance developer productivity.
AI-Powered Business Solutions
Alibaba Cloud unveiled several AI-driven business solutions designed to improve operational efficiency and customer engagement:
- AI Doc: A document processing tool that converts unstructured data into structured formats, enhancing enterprise knowledge management.
- Voice Insight: A multilingual voice recognition and analytics tool for customer service and quality assurance.
- Smart Studio: An AI-powered content creation platform supporting text-to-image and text-to-video applications.
- SmartQ: An AI-powered data analysis module within Alibaba Cloud’s Quick BI platform, enabling non-technical users to generate insights through natural language queries.
