ACEN Achieves 100% Renewable Energy Generation, Marking Major Milestone in Regional Energy Transition

ACEN has achieved 100% renewable energy generation across its portfolio, marking a key milestone in its decade-long transition away from fossil fuels. The company now operates over 7 GW of clean energy assets and is targeting Net Zero emissions by 2050.

PHILIPPINES, 30 DECEMBER 2025 – ACEN has reached a major milestone in its transformation journey, achieving 100% renewable energy generation across its entire portfolio earlier this year, positioning the company as a leading clean energy platform in the Asia Pacific region.

The achievement reflects a strategic shift that began nearly a decade ago. In 2016, ACEN had an installed capacity of 1,000 megawatts, with its portfolio largely reliant on coal and renewable energy contributing only about 2%. At the time, fossil fuels dominated regional power systems, while large-scale renewable energy remained in its early stages of adoption.

Amid rising climate risks and increasing concerns over the long-term viability of carbon-intensive assets, ACEN initiated a deliberate pivot toward renewable energy. The company redefined its strategy, redirected capital allocation, and developed the operational capabilities required to scale clean energy projects across multiple markets, while progressively reducing and exiting coal-based generation.

Today, ACEN’s renewable energy portfolio exceeds 7 gigawatts of attributable capacity, encompassing operational assets, projects under construction, and those backed by signed agreements. As the Ayala Group’s listed energy arm, ACEN is now among the fastest-growing renewable energy players in the Asia Pacific, with the Philippines remaining its core and largest market.

ACEN has also built a diversified regional footprint, including a wholly owned platform in Australia, operations in Vietnam, India, and Lao PDR, and strategic investments in Indonesia and other markets.

According to ACEN President and CEO Eric Francia, the milestone reflects the company’s long-term commitment to aligning its business with the future energy system while supporting decarbonization through commercially disciplined execution.

Operating as a developer, builder, and operator, ACEN leverages its agility and collaborative partnerships to accelerate the energy transition across its markets. The company now operates entirely on renewable energy and has set a target to achieve Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with global climate goals.

In 2025, ACEN completed and advanced a broad mix of renewable energy projects, including 4,634 megawatts of solar capacity, 1,957 megawatts of wind, 115 megawatts of geothermal, and 304 megawatts of battery energy storage. These projects contribute to cleaner, more resilient power systems while supporting economic growth and community development in host locations.

Reaching 100% renewable energy generation establishes a strong foundation for ACEN’s next phase of growth. Looking ahead, the company aims to move beyond capacity expansion to enable a just, orderly, and inclusive energy transition that delivers long-term value for stakeholders.
