Kaspersky Lab had discovered a new malicious program namely ‘miniFlame’ or also known as SPE when it was conducting in-depth analysis of Flame’s command & control servers (C&C). miniFlame is a small and highly flexible malicious program designed to steal data and control infected systems during targeted cyber espionage operations. Kaspersky Lab defined miniFlame as a high precision cyber-attack tool and it could be originated from Flame.
Flame is used by the attackers to obtain the data from the infected machines infected while miniFlame, a Flame module helps the attackers to conduct more in-depth surveillance and cyber-espionage.
