INDONESIA: The Indonesian telco PT XL Axiata (XL) has entered partnership agreement with Western Union and mini market chain Alfamart to provide mobile-based remittance services to Indonesia customers who have family members working overseas especially in Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.
The new service is an expansion of XL’s mobile moneys services under the XL Tunai program, allowing migrant workers can send money from Western Union offices directly to the mobile wallet accounts of XL subscribers and then the recipients can withdraw cash (with withdrawal fees charged) or use the balance for purchases at nearby Alfamart mini markets, XL centers or XL retail partners.
