1 May 2024 – Microsoft has announced the establishment of its inaugural regional data center in Thailand, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing cloud service accessibility. This development follows the disclosure by CEO Satya Nadella of investments totaling $1.7 billion in AI and cloud infrastructure in neighboring Indonesia.
The new data center will bolster the availability of Microsoft’s hyperscale cloud services, offering full Azure capability and top-tier AI infrastructure in Thailand. This move is in line with Microsoft’s efforts to enhance enterprise-grade reliability, performance, and compliance with data residency and privacy standards.
Prime Minister Srettha Thaivisin lauded the investment, describing it as a pivotal moment in Thailand’s digital economy development, fostering increased competitiveness and economic growth.
