Kaspersky Unveils Advanced Email Security Updates to Combat Rising Cyber Threats

Kaspersky strengthens email security with advanced updates, including improved content filtering, enhanced quarantine management, and increased SOC visibility.

29 April 2024 – Kaspersky has announced a major update to its Kaspersky Security for Mail Server, offering enhanced protection against evolving email threats. The latest version features advanced content filtering, improved quarantine management, and increased visibility for Security Operations Centers (SOC).

A recent study by Kaspersky found that 77% of companies worldwide have experienced cyber incidents in the past two years, with 21% attributed to employees falling prey to phishing attacks. To address this, Kaspersky has significantly bolstered its email security solutions, empowering organizations to defend against a wide array of threats.

The updated Kaspersky Security for Mail Server now includes advanced content filtering capabilities, enabling administrators to create complex rules based on keywords in email subject lines, main texts, sender details, and attachment names. Additionally, it supports filtering by hidden headers in plain text of emails. Administrators can also create dictionaries of allowed and prohibited keywords, optimizing filtering rules for different user groups.

Moreover, the latest version incorporates Data Leak Protection (DLP) features to monitor outgoing emails for sensitive data, allowing administrators to detect and block transmissions of sensitive data formats like credit card numbers. Restrictions can be configured for sending such data outside the organization or between specific departments within the company.

For Security Operations Centers (SOC), the update provides comprehensive information on blocking events, including attachment details, scan results, and verdicts on blocked links. This enhanced visibility enables SOC analysts to better correlate events and strengthen incident response strategies.

Administrators now benefit from advanced quarantine functionality, allowing them to view quarantined emails in their original format directly from the console. This simplifies the quarantine management process, providing greater transparency and control over potential mail threats.

Commenting on the update, Timofey Titkov, Head of Cloud & Network Security Product Line at Kaspersky, stated, “With its multi-layered defense mechanisms powered by machine learning algorithms and comprehensive defense systems, Kaspersky Security for Mail Server not only provides robust protection against a wide range of threats but also offers peace of mind to our clients in the face of evolving cyber risks. With this update, we’re reinforcing our commitment to delivering cutting-edge solutions that empower organizations to defend against non-standard Trojans, targeted ransomware attacks, and other emerging threats in today’s dynamic threat landscape.”
