Transaction value of credit cards in Malaysia increases 9.1% in 2012

MALAYSIA: According to the report of “Emerging Opportunities in Malaysia’s Cards and Payments Industry: Market Size, Trends and Drivers, Strategies, Products and Competitive Landscape” published by Timetric, Malaysia’s transaction value of debit and credit cards recorded respective growth rates of 10.0 percent and 9.1 percent in 2012. The industry value registered a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.88 percent during the review period (2008–2012) growing from RM304.4 billion (US$91.7 billion) in 2008 to RM460.1 billion (US$149.5 billion) in 2012.
