Smartphone Penetration in Malaysia Hits 63% This Year

Sept 5, 2013 (Thu): According to a recent survey conducted by Ericsson ConsumerLab in Southeast Asia and Oceania, smartphone penetration in Malaysia increased from 47 per cent in 2012 to 63 per cent this year while table penetration increased to 39 per cent from 14 per cent for the same period, Sun Daily reported.

The findings also showed a jump in apps usage to 76 per cent this year from 54 percent last year among Malaysian daily internet users. According to Ericsson, word of mouth, curiosity to try out a new app, app’s functionality and app’s ability to communicate are the main factors that drive the growth of app downloads.
