Online purchase fire arms, drugs, sex toys and pornography are prohibited in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: To avoid the law enforcement agencies’ radar, some syndicates are using e-commerce way to sell some prohibited items such as fire arms, ammunition, unapproved drugs, sex toys, aphrodisiacs, pornography and even human skin masks.

Royal Malaysia Police warned people do not promote or purchase any illegal or prohibited dangerous goods through any online network, once it was discovered and will face legal sanctions. The deputy chief police officer Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar said the police has their own system to detect and trace any illegal activities in the countries but some people may be lucky to escape once or twice but not forever. He also advised people should choose online shopping site with good reputation to avoid being fraud. In addition, he also urged the public to report any fraud and illegal activities to the police immediately.

The police cannot stop online shopping but they can take action on the people who violate Malaysian government laws. For example, if people found purchase pornographic DVD / VCD or sex toys through online shopping, the police will invoke the provisions of the criminal code under section 292 once found. For the purchase of fire arms or drugs, the Firearms Act or the Dangerous Drug Act (DDA) 1952 will be invoked.
