Matrade Urges Local ICT Companies to Tap E-Commerce Market in Turkey

Aug 7, 2013 (Wed): Turkish e-commerce is one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in the world and it estimated to reach US$6.6 billion (RM21.5 billion) by 2017 with the annual growth rate of 15.8 per cent, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) shared the information in a statement reported by Bernama.

In the statement, Matrade said Turkey’s internet penetration rate is about 45 per cent with 36 million internet users, mobile penetration rate at 88 per cent with about 20 per cent possessing 3G and the smartphone market will increase by 124.4 per cent between 2012 and 2017. Meanwhile, the credit card transaction value for 2012 was reported at US$140 billion (RM455.8 billion), increased by 20 per cent due to a 11 per cent increase in credit card in circulation to 58 million cards.

The statistics show there are many good opportunities in Turkey and thus Matrade is encouraging the local ICT companies to tap into Turkish e-commerce market by providing web-based e-commerce portals, payment gateways, e-marketing solutions, B2B and B2C e-commerce systems, internet and web marketing consultancies.
