October 20, 2014 (Mon): Kaspersky Lab announces the appointment of Nikita Shvetsov to the position of Chief Technology Officer, effective from October 1, 2014. While serving as acting CTO and a member of the Management Board since April 2014, Nikita confirmed his leadership and made an outstanding contribution to the company’s strategic development, leading to his permanent appointment to the role.

As the company’s CTO, Nikita will continue to devise the overall technology and product strategy, drive all product and service development as well as engineering and research activities, and oversee the whole Kaspersky Lab R&D organization as Kaspersky Lab’s main source of expertise and intellectual potential.

Nikita Shvetsov has been with Kaspersky Lab for 10 years since joining the company in 2004 as a virus analyst. In 2006 Nikita served as a senior developer working on emulators for the heuristic engine, and then he became Director of the Anti-Malware Research Unit. Prior to being appointed acting CTO, Nikita served as Vice President of Threat Research and Deputy CTO (Research), taking charge of the strategic direction of Kaspersky Lab’s threat prevention technologies.

Under Nikita’s leadership, Kaspersky Lab’s products and technologies have won a number of prestigious awards, including two ‘Product of the Year’ prizes from AV-Comparatives, the highly-respected independent testing organization. “As acting CTO Nikita Shvetsov proved himself to be a thoughtful, business-oriented leader and brought a lot of enthusiasm to his role,” said Eugene Kaspersky, chairman and CEO of Kaspersky Lab. “We are working very hard to provide all our customers – from casual Internet users to large industrial enterprises – with the best tools to protect themselves against existing and emerging threats in cyberspace. Nikita has proved that he can lead our R&D team and develop high-quality innovative solutions and I am confident that he and his team will see even greater achievements in the years to come”.
