KUALA LUMPUR: eMarketer, an authority on digital marketing, media and commerce estimated global B2C (business-to-customer) e-commerce sales grew 21.1 per cent last year, to hit US$1 trillion (RM3.1 trillion) for the first time. According to eMarketer, US remains as leader in global B2C e-commerce sales with sales volume of US$343.43 billion (RM1064.12 billion) in 2012 followed by China, UK, Japan and Germany.
This year, eMarketer forecasted global B2C e-commerce sales will grow 18.3 per cent to US$1.298 trillion (RM4.02 trillion) and Asia-Pacific’s e-commerce volume will surpass North America to become the world’s no. 1 market for B2C e-commerce sales due to the rapid growth of e-commerce in China, India and Indonesia. In 2012, Asia-Pacific grew more than 33 per cent to US$332.46 billion (RM1,030.13 billion).
