DiGi CyberSAFE Programme educates Malaysian against cyber crimes

KUALA LUMPUR: DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd is forming strategic partnership with Education Ministry, CyberSecurity Malaysia, Childline Malaysia and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to run DiGi CyberSAFE Programme to create awareness of online criminals among the students in the country.

Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Fadillah Yusof said that cyber crimes nowadays are also targeted at children. The programme is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to use the internet responsibly and identify potential online threats, he added.

As of June this year, CyberSecurity Malaysia revealed that they have received total of 5,581 complaints nationwide and 11 cases of that complaints involved those below 18 years old. Most the cyber crime cases reported are intrusion, content-related, cyber harassment, denial of service, spam, fraud and malicious codes.
