Jan 20, 2014 (Mon): Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) of South Korea said on Sunday in a statement that the personal data of at least 20 million bank and credit card users in the country has been leaked, after an employee from Korea Credit Bureau (KCB) had been arrested and accused of stealing the data from three credit card companies, Bangkok Post reports.
The suspect was reported has stolen customers’ name, social security numbers, phone numbers, credit card numbers and expiration dates from KB Kookmin Card, Lotte Card and NH Nonghyup Card. According to FSS, the credit card firms will cover any financial losses caused to the cardholders due to this accident.
