Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia to align with 700 MHz band plan by 2020

Thu, Jun 20, 2013: Singapore Minister for Communications and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim has announced that the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI), the Direktorat Jenderal Sumber Daya dan Perangkat Pos dan Informatika of Indonesia (DG SDPPI), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) are committed to align with the Asia Pacific Telecommunity 700 MHz band plan.

The 700 MHz band offers improves data rates for mobile broadband, and enables wider coverage and improved indoor service. It is expected to be available by 2020.

Yacoob made the announcement during the official opening of the annual Infocomm Media Business Exchange 2013 (imbX), Asia’s largest ICT, digital media and entertainment platform.
