90% Filipino Internet Users Are Cybercrime Victim

Mar 19, 2014 (Wed): General Alan Purisima, the chief of the Philippines National Police (PNP) told that nine out of 10 Filipino Internet users fell victim to cybercrime due to lack of awareness on security features of social networks, PhilStar reports.

“2,778 cybercrime-related offenses were recorded by PNP from 2003 to 2012 and Internet fraud tops the list of cybercrime, followed by harassment, threats and libel,” he said during the opening of the two-day 1st Anti-Cybercrime Summit held at the Multipurpose Hall in Camp Crame, Philippines.
